In His Divine Image

The first output for this project was to deliver a short promotional video for an event that would expand on “Theology of the Body.” During the brainstorming it started to look like the second output of this was to have a cute keepsake of my kids.

 

So why use my kids? Other than the fact that they’re cute? Well, the challenges of having absolutely no budget for this project and no real solid creative direction from those commissioning the video, I had to be resourceful and use what I had on hand. So I had my family my trusty Panasonic Lumix GF1 and Final Cut.

I grabbed some audio from previous keynote talks of this event’s guest speaker, and spliced together the audio to come up with a narrative. Then I was able to create a very rough storyboard and direct my daughter and my wife, (and my 1 year old boy to some extent) to get the desired takes I needed.

It’s a simple story of my little girl, not just reading about what it means to be a human being, but actually living it out by helping her mom take care of her little brother. Simple. Heartwarming and something I can show my kids when they’re older.
